Top 5 Benefits of a BBL PhotoFacial

Has your skin accumulated pigmentation issues and signs of aging over time? Sun, stress, and even genetics can leave your skin looking dull, hyperpigmented, and uneven. A face BBL, also known as photorejuvenation, can treat red and brown pigments as well as many signs of aging for clear, even-toned skin. This effective anti-aging treatment remains a favorite for many reasons.

What is Photorejuvenation Using BBL (BroadBand Light)?

As a facial treatment, BBL refers to BroadBand Light. Unlike a laser, which uses a single wavelength, a photofacial uses a spectrum of wavelengths to target many different types of skin issues in one treatment. You may also hear this treatment referred to as IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), a name that indicates the treatment uses light pulses to achieve results.  However, a BBL photofacial is a “next-level” photofacial and far superior to a standard IPL photofacial. Many cosmetic healthcare practices and med spas also refer to this as the “Forever Young BBL”.

This non-invasive facial treatment uses light to break up pigment particles and trigger your skin cells to enter a more youthful, active state. A series of treatments leads to skin that looks dramatically smoother, clearer, and more even. A BBL photofacial targets tough-to-treat redness, vascular lesions, and rosacea that are not targeted through a laser facial or skin resurfacing. Multiple passes are done over your treatment area (usually face or sometimes chest) using several wavelengths that address both rejuvenation and tightening.

How Does a BBL PhotoFacial Work?

The treatment itself can feel like tingling, prickling, or a rubber band being snapped on the skin. Your experience depends on the intensity of your treatment and the conditions being treated.

This light-based treatment targets cells in the dermis where your actively dividing skin cells live. It stimulates these cells to become more active, producing more new skin cells and rejuvenating the skin’s surface more quickly. Different wavelengths of light also target red and brown pigment molecules, damaging the pigments so they are shed by the skin.

Top 5 Benefits of a Face BBL

Your team at Premier Vein & Body by Schwartz recommends a face BBL for many individuals dealing with pigmentation issues, signs of aging, or many other skin concerns. These are some of our reasons for loving this anti-aging treatment:

Addresses Pigmentation Problems

A face BBL is effective against a wide range of pigmentation issues, including:

  • Uneven skin tone
  • Age spots
  • Sunspots
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

The BroadBand Light is absorbed by many different pigment colors, heating and damaging them. Pigmented spots are absorbed or flake off. Photorejuvenation is one of the most effective treatments for pigmentation issues caused by aging, sun damage, and acne.

However, where it shines is with its track record in removing redness caused by sun damage or also rosacea and its related redness, pimples, and uneven skin tone.

Treats Broken Blood Vessels and Vascular Lesions

Broken blood vessels or visible capillaries are a harmless but annoying problem that can leave your skin looking blotchy or with visible web-like veins. The pigments inside these veins absorb wavelengths of light, causing damage that collapses them. Your body absorbs the veins and redirects blood flow for clear, even skin.

Fights Signs of Aging

Like other parts of your body, the cells in your dermis become less active and productive over time. A face BBL triggers these cells to enter a more youthful state, producing more new skin cells that replace old, damaged ones. It also triggers collagen production that improves the skin’s texture and firmness.

Works All Over The Body

You can have photorejuvenation in many places other than your face. Popular locations to have BBL treatments include the back, chest, and backs of the hands, but you can have treatment almost anywhere. This treatment is an excellent way to improve skin tone and treat sun damage wherever it appears.

No Downtime

A face BBL is non-invasive and does not require any downtime. You can return to your daily routine immediately. You may notice that your skin looks flushed for up to a few hours after treatment. Use sun protection and avoid sun exposure after treatment.

How Many Photofacial Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments needed depends on your skin concerns and other factors. We always sell these in a package with some sort of complimentary “add-on” (eg: buy 3 get 4th free, etc.) Some people may see their desired results after three to five sessions, while others need more. A consultation will allow us to assess your skin and determine how many treatments you may require.

You will notice gradual improvements in your skin over the next few weeks, with greater results after each session. Most people will achieve their desired results a few months after their last session as new skin cells replace old ones and damaged pigments are shed.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Face BBL?

A face BBL is an excellent choice for many people with pigmentation issues or signs of aging. It must be used cautiously or replaced with a different treatment for dark skin. Good candidates for photorejuvenation want to address skin concerns and fight signs of aging with gentle, no-downtime treatment.
