Tixel® is a skin tightening and resurfacing treatment that uses a unique method of micro-fractional skin resurfacing. Tixel® applies heat through tiny pyramids made of titanium. The heat is delivered to the skin at a targeted depth to stimulate the natural production of collagen.
Tixel® can treat a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone. It especially excels at tightening and smoothing the areas around the eyes and mouth. More importantly, Tixel is not a laser, so there is no concern for potential damage to the eyes, which allows us to treat the entire upper and lower eyelid, right up to the lash line, without requiring eye protection. At Premier Vein and Body by Schwartz, we’re proud to offer this rejuvenating, customizable treatment.
Tixel® works by creating thousands of microscopic channels in the skin. These channels trigger the skin’s natural healing process. The tiny pyramids on the Tixel® handpiece are heated to a precise temperature and then briefly applied to the skin, creating a controlled thermal injury, stimulating the skin to produce new collagen fibers. New collagen is key in restoring skin’s strength and firmness, tightening wrinkles and smoothing rough or uneven skin.
Tixel® only affects the top layers of the skin, making it a gentler and less invasive treatment than many lasers. Additionally, Tixel® allows for more precise control over the depth and intensity of treatment, making it a safe and effective option for all skin types.
Before a Tixel® treatment, your Premier Vein & Body expert will cleanse your skin and may apply a numbing cream to minimize any discomfort. On lower settings, Tixel® works so gently you may not even need numbing cream. We will customize the strength of your treatment to address your skincare concerns and how much downtime you can afford.
Once the numbing cream has taken effect, the Tixel® handpiece will be passed over the skin, creating thousands of tiny channels. The treatment typically takes 15-30 minutes, depending on the treatment area.
Tixel® works safely on all skin types and tones. If you have a history of keloid scarring or tend to form hypertrophic scars, Tixel® may not be the best option. If you have active acne or skin infections, wait until the condition resolves before undergoing Tixel® treatment.
Tixel® is most effective for treating fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, uneven skin tone, and sun damage. Other treatments may be more appropriate for skin concerns such as deep wrinkles or severe acne scarring. Only a consultation can determine which treatment will work best for you.
Most patients require, on average, a series of three sessions to see their best cosmetic results. The results of Tixel® treatment are gradual and progressive. Optimal results are typically seen within four to six weeks after the series is complete. Patients may notice improvements in skin texture, tone, and firmness, as well as a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.
Because Tixel® stimulates the natural production of collagen, the results should be long-lasting, with most patients enjoying the benefits of their treatment for months or even years. Maintain a good skin care regimen and avoid sun exposure to optimize the longevity of your results.
