What is CoolSculpting® and truSculpt Like?
A CoolSculpting treatment session typically lasts 30 minutes per area treated. The applicator will feel extremely cold when applied, but your skin will go numb within a few minutes, and you should feel comfortable. Some people feel pulling, tugging, or tingling during treatment. It is important to note that many patients across the nation have experienced a condition known as paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, or PAH, after having a single or multiple treatments. PAH causes a gradual enlargement of the treated area, often in the shape of the actual CoolSculpting paddle. It occurs when the freezing of fat cells activates a reactionary process in the fatty tissue that, actually, thickens and expands the fat cells instead of breaking them down, as intended. PAH is only known to occur following a cryolipolysis or CoolSculpting body contouring treatment.
The revolutionary truSculpt ID(r) body-contouring treatment uses monopolar radiofrequency (RF) non-ablative energy to target fat cells, breaking them apart. The heat produced in the deep layers of the skin triggers collagen development and tightens the skin for even better results. This is a painless treatment with no downtime and no risk of PAH.
What Results Will I See With CoolSculpting® and truSculpt?
Your body needs about three months to finish removing the damaged fat cells from the treated area. Results develop gradually beginning after your first treatment. You will see noticeable slimming and shaping of the targeted areas, helping you reach the figure you have worked to achieve. Neither treatment is intended for weight loss or people looking for a weight loss solution. Unlike CoolSculpting, which only destroys fat cells, truSculpt has the added benefit of stimulating the cells in the deeper layers of the skin to produce more collagen, tightening the skin to give an even more sculpted appearance.
Where Areas Can Be Treated with CoolSculpting® and truSculpt?
Both CoolSculpting and truSculpt ID can treat stubborn fat in the following areas:
- Abdomen
- Flanks
- Thighs
- Arms
- Back
- Under the buttocks
CoolSculpting can also treat submental fat in the chin area. At this time, truSculpt does not have a handpiece for this area.
Am I a Good Candidate for Non-Surgical Body Contouring?
CoolSculpting is an ideal fat reduction treatment if you are at or near your target body weight and looking for a boost to achieve your desired results. CoolSculpting candidates must have “pinchable fat” to fit within the handpiece. However, unlike CoolSculpting, truSculpt is a fully customizable body contouring treatment, as it uses applicators that “lay” on top of the skin, rather than applicators that require “pinchable fat”, allowing for greater coverage for larger patients, as well as a good alternative for low-BMI patients that didn’t have enough fat to “pinch” for the CoolSculpting applicators.
Is There Any Downtime With These Treatments?
You may notice minor swelling and soreness in the treated area lasting up to a few days. Some people also feel numbness or tingling. You can return to work immediately after either treatment.
