How Does Tixel® Treat Acne?

People who have never struggled with acne often underestimate how much stress it can cause. Frequent breakouts or severe acne can affect your confidence and may even leave you with scars. At Premier Vein & Body by Schwartz, we offer innovative Tixel® acne treatment. This effective method banishes acne and can keep it away for months or longer.

What is Acne?

Acne is a skin condition that results from excessive oil secretion that blocks facial pores. Your acne may be non-inflammatory, including blackheads and whiteheads, where oil accumulates in the pores but does not cause irritation or swelling. Acne can also be inflammatory, including pimples, pustules, and cysts. This type of acne can break through the walls of the clogged pores, spreading bacteria and inflammation to create a painful, inflamed blemish. These deeper forms of acne are most likely to leave bothersome acne scars.

What Treatments Are Available for Acne?

Many people begin their acne treatment with at-home products, which work for some people. Others may try oral medications, which can have unpleasant side effects such as unusually dry, sensitive skin. Topical treatments work for some people but require an application routine and also have side effects. Many people use some or all of these treatments and still experience regular acne.

Unlike these methods, Tixel® treats acne with long-lasting results and no side effects. This treatment uses thermal energy to deactivate over-producing oil glands. It also resurfaces the skin to eliminate dull, dead outer layers of skin that can clog pores. Dr. Schwartz recommends Tixel® for those seeking a better way to manage their acne. Unlike other treatments, it takes 30 minutes or less, has no unpleasant side effects, and provides additional skin-improving benefits.

What is Tixel® Acne Treatment?

Tixel® uses ThermoMechanical Action (TMA®) to rejuvenate the skin. It uses a handpiece with tiny cones that make brief contact with the skin, creating tiny areas of microdamage. The heat released by the cones triggers collagen production, tightening and smoothing the skin. It also removes dull layers of skin and brings new cells to the surface to fade hyperpigmentation and other skin issues.

When used to treat acne, Tixel® heats and slows the production of oil glands. It also removes the outer layers of dead skin cells that often contribute to pore clogging. It provides clearer, smoother skin with smaller pores and less inflammation. You will also benefit from smoothing your acne scars and addressing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

How Many Tixel® Treatments Will I Need for Acne?

The exact number of Tixel® treatments needed depends on several factors, including the severity of your acne, patients typically start out with a package of three treatments. Although you may need additional treatments to address acne scars or other skin issues. Tixel® is customizable, so some people prefer fewer, more intensive treatments. Others benefit from more, less intensive treatments. Dr. Craig Schwartz and his team will adjust your treatment plan as needed to help you reach your goals.

What Results Will I See With Tixel®?

Most people see a decrease in acne immediately after Tixel® treatment. You will see fewer breakouts and those that do occur will be less severe. Results improve after each treatment until you have achieved excellent acne control. Your skin will also look brighter and healthier. Tixel® fades the results of past acne so you can start with a clean slate.

Tixel® results can last several months for some people and much longer for others. Many people will benefit from an occasional maintenance treatment to keep their acne under control. Each person responds differently, but we will work with you to develop a plan that manages your acne with minimum effort.

Is There Any Downtime With Tixel® for Acne?

Most people will experience redness, swelling, and sensitivity for a few days after Tixel® treatments. Those who have more intensive treatments might experience a few days of peeling, crusting, or flaking. While you can resume most normal activities, you may prefer to take a few days of social downtime. Avoid sun exposure and use sun protection after treatment to protect your rejuvenated skin from UV injury.

Am I a Good Candidate for Tixel® Acne Treatment?

Most people with acne make good candidates for Tixel®. Unlike many lasers, it works safely on all skin types and tones. Ideal candidates have found other acne management options unsatisfactory and are ready for something better.

You should not have Tixel® if you currently have an infection or injury in the treatment area. Tixel® is also not recommended for those who are pregnant or tend to form abnormal scars. Only a consultation can determine whether Tixel® is a good option for you.
