How Does Laser Lipo Work?
During a ProLipo™ procedure, Dr. Schwartz uses small incisions to insert a thin laser tool. The laser energy heats the fat cells, causing them to break down and liquefy. A small cannula then suctions away the fat, leaving the area slimmer and more sculpted.
The energy emitted by the laser also acts on the collagen fibers in the skin, causing them to contract. This tightens the skin, leaving you with less sagging or laxity than you would have with traditional liposuction. It will also trigger long-term collagen production for lasting results. The procedure is performed using a tumescent local anesthetic, a solution of sterile saline, and numbing medication injected into the treatment area.
What Can Laser Lipo Treat?
Laser lipo works in any area where you can have traditional liposuction and in some places where you cannot. Popular areas include the abdomen, flanks, thighs, and arms. Laser lipo with ProLipo™ can even be used under the chin, above the knees, and around the ankles. Because it can use such a small cannula, it works in small spaces and can remove fat in a precise, targeted way. Laser lipo may not remove as much fat as traditional liposuction. Still, it is equally effective as a body contouring tool, especially if you are at or near your target weight.
Laser Lipo vs. CoolSculpting®
Laser lipo is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a laser and cannula inserted under the skin. CoolSculpting®, VASER®, and other non-surgical body contouring require no invasive techniques. They have little to no downtime and work well to remove fat. The most significant difference is that laser lipo removes fat during treatment. Non-surgical body contouring will require you to wait several months as the body filters away the damaged fat cells.
How Much is Laser Lipo?
Many factors affect the cost of laser lipo. These include:
- The provider you choose
- Your location
- The size of the treatment area(s)
- Other fees and expenses
You can expect your cost to vary depending on the area you have treated. Dr. Schwartz recommends that you schedule a consultation for an accurate estimate. Laser lipo is a customized procedure that requires an evaluation of your goals and concerns.
How Long Do Laser Lipo Results Last?
Laser lipo removes fat cells, which do not regenerate after removal. Your results will last as long as you maintain a consistent weight. If your weight changes, this may affect your results as remaining fat cells can still grow. If your weight remains stable, you can expect your results to last a lifetime.
