How Long Does Fat Transfer Last?

Are you interested in enhancing your breasts, buttocks, or facial features? You have an option that requires no artificial implants or fillers with long-lasting results. Fat transfer with our BeautiFill™ fat transfer system allows Dr. Craig Schwartz to transfer your own purified fat to areas where you want to add volume. Fat transfer results look natural and outlast other solutions, making it an excellent option for anyone considering volume enhancement.

What is Fat Transfer?

When properly harvested, fat cells can settle into a new location and thrive there, a process called grafting. At Premier Vein & Body by Schwartz, Dr. Schwartz specializes in fat transfer using the BeautiFill™ fat removal system. This procedure extracts and prepares fat cells, then transfers them to a new location, such as the breasts or face. The fat cells establish a blood supply and provide results that outlast dermal fillers or implants.

How Does Fat Transfer with BeautiFill™ Work?

BeautiFill™ combines laser lipo and fat processing into one procedure. Dr. Schwartz will recommend an area that would make a great fat donor site. The fat is removed and then purified into the highest-quality fat cells with the best chance of thriving in their new location.

Up to 95% of fat harvested with BeautiFill™ survive the transfer process. BeautiFill™ takes place in-office under local anesthesia.

How Long Does Fat Transfer Last?

Dermal fillers usually last a year or two at best. Implants can last a long time, but complications often require their removal. Fat cells can grow and shrink, but they stay with you for a lifetime. Moving fat cells to a new place does not affect their lifespan, so results are long-term!

Popular Areas for Fat Transfer

Since this procedure uses your own fat, it provides a safe way to enhance volume almost anywhere on the face or body. The most popular locations to have fat transfer include:

Breasts

If you want implant-free breast augmentation, fat transfer can help. You can achieve an increased volume that looks and feels natural. Unlike implants, your transferred fat never needs replacement and has little to no risk of complications.

Buttocks

Buttock implants are notoriously prone to complications. You can have rounder, fuller buttocks without the risk of implants using fat transfer. Dr. Schwartz can shape the area around the buttocks with BeautiFill™, then enhance your buttocks to provide the contours you want.

Face

Fat transfer can be used almost anywhere on the face, where you can have dermal fillers. This includes restoring volume to the cheeks, lips, temples, and around the mouth. Unlike dermal fillers, the volume added with the fat transfer will not fade away within a year or two.

Hands

Fat transfer can rejuvenate aging hands by restoring youthful-looking volume. You can have smooth, soft-looking hands with results that last far longer than dermal fillers.

How Much Does Fat Transfer Cost?

Fat transfer is very individualized, so costs are difficult to estimate. Your cost at Premier Vein & Body will usually fall between $2,500 and $8,000. The location of the fat transfer will affect your cost since Dr. Schwartz will need to transfer much less fat for a small area of the face than to enhance the buttocks. We recommend a consultation so we can provide you with an accurate estimate. Each patient must have enough fat to be able to inject their desired area(s).

What is Recovery Like After Fat Transfer?

BeautiFill™ requires minimal recovery time. Depending on the area, you may have some minor swelling or soreness. The area receiving the new fat may also experience minimal swelling or bruising. Since fat transfer only uses your own high-quality fat, the likelihood of a reaction is extremely low.

What are the Benefits of Fat Transfer with BeautiFill™?

Dr. Schwartz performs fat transfer using BeautiFill™ because it provides the highest-quality fat cells with the highest survival rate. This type of fat transfer offers benefits including:

No Maintenance

You can expect some maintenance if you have dermal fillers or breast implants. Fat transfer often requires no maintenance at all. You might have more fat transferred in the future if you have more age-related volume loss.

All-Natural

The fat cells taken from elsewhere in your body will look and feel completely natural in their new location. Your body recognizes its own cells, making reactions nearly nonexistent.

Stubborn Fat Removal

One exciting bonus of BeautiFill™ is removing unwanted fat from areas like the abdomen, flanks, or thighs. You can achieve significant shaping and contouring depending on the amount of fat removed.

Who Makes a Good Candidate for Fat Transfer?

Good candidates for fat transfer want to enhance their features without artificial injections or implants. Ideal candidates have enough fat for harvesting and have reasonable expectations. Make sure Dr. Schwartz knows about all your medical conditions.
