Spider veins typically emerge on the legs, but they are known to appear on the face as well. Facial spider veins, also known as telangiectasias, are reasonably common. Effectively, these veins are red/blue and look almost thread-like in appearance, resembling a veiny spider web around your nose area. They’re formed due to high pressure in the venous system, expanding the vein’s walls. From here, the capillaries also increase in size, which leads to spider veins.
Often caused by underlying inflammation, obesity or high blood pressure that can damage vessel walls, spider veins are also often the effect of photodamage (sun exposure) and aging. They will not improve on their own and may worsen with age.
