You don’t have to live with painful and bulging varicose veins!  Dr. Craig Schwartz, Kansas City’s “Original Vein Doctor” has been treating varicose and spider veins in his Kansas City vein clinic since 2003 and has performed over 12,000 vein procedures!

Medically-Necessary Varicose Vein Treatment

Varicose veins are considered to be medically necessary, and treatment is, generally, covered by medical insurance in the following situations:

  • Patient has developed complications or activity-impairing symptoms of discomfort, including:
  • Clotting, bleeding
  • Heaviness, aching, tiredness
  • Throbbing, burning, itching
  • Swelling
  • Skin discoloration or changes in the affected areas
  • Diagnostic ultrasound evaluation documents venous insufficiency or reflux (backward flow of blood in the vein.)

*Individual results may vary

Conservative Vein Treatment

A period of conservative vein treatment using compression stockings and elevation will, often, be the first step in your treatment protocol, as many insurance companies require this prior to approval for a more extensive procedure to treat the underlying causes of the vein disease. It’s important to note that, although this conservative treatment may help alleviate symptoms, it will not “cure” your vein disease and your varicose veins will persist until they are removed or closed through an in-office vein procedure, such as endovenous laser ablation, micro-phlebectomy, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, etc.

To learn more about varicose vein treatment that is covered by insurance, schedule a free vein screening* with Dr. Craig Schwartz by completing the form on this page or by calling (913) 270-1915. Premier Vein & Body by Schwartz is located in Leawood, KS and proudly also serves Overland Park, Johnson County and the entire Kansas City metro area.

* Initial free vein screening will include a visual evaluation and subsequent discussion with Dr. Schwartz.  However, if patient presents with symptoms of vein disease (not just spider veins), a diagnostic test, such as a venous ultrasound/duplex examination, that is considered medically necessary per the physician’s determination, will be billed as a separate charge, and $450 will be billed to your insurance provider.  Pending your carrier’s response, you may be ultimately responsible for some portion or ALL of this charge, which may include deductibles, co-insurance and/or co-pays. If your insurance company denies this charge, your patient responsibility portion may be partially discounted if you proceed with vein disease treatment through our office.
