What to Expect After a miraDry® Treatment

If you sweat excessively under your arms, you probably try to hide or control it in various ways. What is a miraDry® Treatment Like?

Treatment begins with a numbing cream applied to your underarms. Your Premier Vein & Body provider will place a temporary grid on your underarm skin to guide the process, then use the applicator to treat the sweat glands. You may feel warmth and a slight tugging sensation but no discomfort. Treatment usually takes under an hour, but you should add about 20 minutes for the numbing to take effect.

What to Expect After a miraDry® Treatment

You may experience redness, swelling, and tingling in the treated area for up to a few days. Applying ice packs for short periods for the first twelve hours can significantly reduce these effects. Most people return to work or daily activities immediately.

Although there is no downtime, you should avoid strenuous exercise for a few days. You will feel more comfortable in loose-fitting clothes during that time. Avoid using any scrubs, strongly scented products, or other irritants until your skin is no longer sensitive. Your provider may give you other instructions.

Many people wake up the day after miraDry® treatment and are already noticing improvements in their hyperhidrosis. While you can start enjoying the benefits almost immediately, results will continue to improve over the next few days.

How Long Do miraDry® Results Last?

Most people will achieve excellent sweat and odor control with a single miraDry® treatment. However, some people might need more than one. Unlike Botox®, which wears off in a matter of months, miraDry® can last for many years. Your sweat glands will not reactivate, so you can expect to stay confidently dry for a long time. Treated hair follicles will also stay inactive.

People sometimes ask whether you need underarm sweat to help cool your body. Fortunately, you have enough sweat glands on other parts of your body that can do the job, and the sweat from these glands does not have the same odor as underarm sweat.
