What Skin Tightening Treatments are Available?

Youthful skin looks smooth and firm. Skin laxity develops as we age and lose collagen. You can recapture some of that youthful firmness with in-office skin tightening treatments that do not require general anesthesia and weeks of downtime. Many of these treatments work on the face and body so you can tighten all your areas of loose skin.

How Does Skin Tightening Work?

Non-surgical skin tightening treatments use your body’s collagen to remodel and tighten your skin. Collagen, a vital structural protein, forms connective tissue all over the body, including the deep layers of skin. A network of collagen fibers keeps young skin smooth and resilient. Skin tightening treatments use different forms of energy to stimulate your skin cells to produce more collagen. This new collagen remodels your skin from within to tighten and smooth.

What Skin Tightening Treatments are Available?

At Premier Vein and Body By Schwartz, we offer non-invasive and minimally invasive treatment options to give you the results you desire. During your consultation, we will assess which one may work best for your skin concerns. Some have additional benefits that may help you reach your overall skin goals.

Renuvion®

Dr. Schwartz offers Renuvion® on its own or as an addition to liposuction for tightening the skin. Helium and radiofrequency energy combine heat and cold plasma technology. A device inserted just under the skin delivers this energy, causing immediate tightening of collagen fibers. It also triggers long-term collagen production for lasting results. You will usually only need one treatment for lasting results.  Renuvion is minimally-invasive and performed using local tumescent anesthesia.

SkinTyte™

SkinTyte™, a completely non-invasive skin tightening treatment, uses a form of intense pulsed light called BBL (Broadband Light). This spectrum of light heats the deep layers of the skin, triggering collagen development and skin remodeling. Most people will need four to six treatments to see their desired results. BBL treatments are safe and widely used for many purposes, including some skin conditions.

Venus Freeze™

This non-invasive treatment uses a combination of radiofrequency and pulsed electromagnetic energy to heat the dermis and produce skin tightening. Venus Freeze™ improves collagen development for firmer, healthier-looking skin. You may need between six and eight treatments for maximum results, but Venus Freeze™ sessions are fast and comfortable.

Opus Plasma™

This treatment uses plasma energy to create tiny areas of micro-damage in the skin. These areas of micro-damage trigger a process of healing and collagen development that smooths and firms the skin. Opus Plasma™ does much more than just skin tightening. It can correct hyperpigmentation, sun damage, uneven skin texture, and acne scarring.  Most people benefit from two to three treatments. This revolutionary treatment is most frequently used on the face, neck and chest.

How Much are Skin Tightening Treatments?

Costs for skin tightening procedures vary widely. Factors affecting your total price will include:

  • Type of treatment
  • Size of the treatment area
  • Your location
  • Your provider
  • How many sessions you need

The average cost can range from about $1200 for Venus Freeze™ to $5000 for Renuvion®. When comparing prices, keep in mind that Renuvion® will only require one treatment while the others will require a series of treatments, Non-invasive treatments will also require occasional touch-ups.

How Long Will Skin Tightening Results Last?

The results of non-invasive skin tightening can take several months to develop. During this time, the cells in your dermis have been producing new collagen. Less intensive treatments will require less downtime but will often require more frequent maintenance. Once triggered, new collagen production can last a year or more. In many cases, we will recommend maintenance once or twice a year.

Am I a Good Candidate for Skin Tightening Treatments?

Our range of skin tightening treatments can work for almost anyone. Ideal candidates have skin laxity but not large amounts of loose skin. If you have significant excess skin, you might make a better candidate for a surgical skin tightening procedure. Different procedures have limitations for use. For example, Venus Freeze™ uses electromagnetic energy, making it unsafe for people with pacemakers. Men and women make good candidates, especially if they have mild to moderate laxity and want to avoid recovery time. We can help you choose a treatment that meets your needs and fits your lifestyle.

Is There Any Downtime With Skin Tightening Treatments?

Most non-surgical skin tightening treatments have no downtime, and you can return to your usual activities immediately. Since Renuvion® is somewhat more invasive than the other treatments, it can take up to a week for soreness and swelling to resolve completely. The different treatments can have effects such as sunburn-like redness or sensitivity. After all skin tightening treatments, you should protect your skin from sun exposure since UV exposure breaks down collagen.
