Top 5 Benefits of Laser Skin Resurfacing

Achieving clear, youthful-looking skin can be a challenge when you have to battle the effects of aging, environmental damage, and other natural changes. Laser skin resurfacing effectively rejuvenates your skin and addresses a wide range of skin concerns. At Premier Vein & Body, we offer two revolutionary non-laser treatments that offer all the benefits of laser skin resurfacing with advanced technology for even better results.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

The term “laser skin resurfacing” refers to a variety of skin treatments that use laser energy to trigger your skin’s renewal processes. While lasers have been the trusted tool for skin rejuvenation for many years, you now have two options that achieve the same results without using laser energy: Tixel® and Opus Plasma™. By using different forms of energy instead of lasers, they can provide the same benefits, generally with less downtime and discomfort, and can be used in areas where lasers should not.

Top 5 Benefits of Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is recommended for many different skin concerns. Tixel® and Opus Plasma™ both work like a laser to trigger the skin’s renewal processes, but they use different types of energy. These treatments are effective in many ways, including:

Smooths Uneven Texture

Laser skin resurfacing triggers new collagen formation by activating the fibroblasts in the deeper layers of the skin. This new collagen adds to the skin’s support structure, smoothing lines and wrinkles. It can also smooth acne scars and shrink enlarged pores for an even, smooth texture.

Evens Pigmentation

Skin rejuvenation treatments can target many different pigmentation issues. Tixel® and Opus Plasma™ bring healthy new skin cells to the surface, replacing the older, hyperpigmented cells. As a result, it can fade age spots, erase sun damage, and decrease the appearance of conditions like melasma.

Reverses Signs of Aging

Aging leads to collagen loss, skin laxity, and many other changes. Laser skin resurfacing stimulates your skin cells to act younger, producing more collagen and pushing new cells to the surface more quickly. This increase in collagen and cellular turnover firms sagging skin, tightens wrinkles, and restores youthful skin texture.

Safe for All Skin Types

Traditional lasers use a focused wavelength of light energy. This wavelength may not be safe for darker skin tones, and lasers are not safe for use around the eyes or on the eyelids. Tixel® and Opus Plasma™ are safe on all skin types and tones, and Tixel® is a superior option for treating issues like undereye bags.

Minimal Downtime

Tixel® and Opus Plasma™ are highly customizable, allowing your Premier Vein & Body team to choose the ideal settings for your skin’s needs and goals. This flexibility allows us to minimize your recovery time. In many cases, you can return to your daily routine after treatment with far less recovery time than a traditional laser skin resurfacing system.

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

While lasers are the standard for skin resurfacing, they are not always the best option. We prefer Tixel® and Opus Plasma™ for their versatility and superior results. They also allow us to treat more areas and more skin concerns than a less customizable laser.

Tixel®

When used for skin tightening and rejuvenation, Tixel® creates small areas of controlled micro-damage in the skin using tiny titanium pyramids. These briefly make contact with the skin, transferring heat energy to a precise depth. This heat energy triggers collagen formation and speeds up cell turnover. Unlike lasers, Tixel® is ideal for tightening and firming the undereye area and even tightening the eyelids.

Opus Plasma™

This revolutionary treatment uses a special form of plasma energy to resurface and improve your skin. Radiofrequency energy is used to energize the air around the tips, creating a precisely controlled plasma that stimulates skin rejuvenation. Opus Plasma™ can achieve many of the same results as a powerful laser with far less recovery time or discomfort.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing with Opus Plasma™ and Tixel® is safe for all skin types and tones. Healthy adults of any age can enjoy the benefits. Good candidates want to rejuvenate their skin using the most advanced technology available and see dramatic results. People with concerns around the eye area that cannot be treated with lasers may also be ideal candidates.

You should not have these treatments if you have a skin condition like eczema or psoriasis in the area, if you are pregnant, or if you have a history of forming keloid scars. Dr. Schwartz will assess your skin concerns to determine whether laser skin resurfacing can help you achieve your skin goals.
