How Much Time Off Will I Need For Vein Treatment?

Here at Premier Vein, we are experts in treating varicose and spider veinsSpider veins are usually red, blue, or purple and look like a bruise, especially when they arise in clusters. While they can make you feel self-conscious, they usually don’t pose a health problem.

Varicose veins, on the other hand, are large, dilated, and bulging veins, which protrude above the level of the skin. They often lead to uncomfortable symptoms such as pain, heaviness, swelling, and aching in the leg. Unfortunately, varicose names are typically a symptom of a more serious health complication.

If you are living with spider or varicose veins, you may be wondering how much time off you’ll need from work and your other daily responsibilities if you choose to treat them. Keep reading to find out.

Treatment Options for Spider and Varicose Veins

We are pleased to offer a variety of cutting-edge treatments for spider and varicose veins. In most cases, spider veins are treated with sclerotherapy injections, which is considered the gold standard for spider veins.

Varicose veins are primarily treated with ambulatory phlebectomy and endovenous chemical ablation, depending on the severity of your diseased veins. During a private consultation, Dr. Schwartz will determine the ideal treatment for you.

Recovering From Vein Treatment

After vein treatment, you may return to work and your other responsibilities right away. However, keep in mind that you may face discomfort and bruising. If this is the case, you can take Ibuprofen or another over-the-counter pain reliever.

We recommend waiting 7 to 10 days before resuming a routine exercise program such as running or weight lifting. You should also stay away from lifting anything over 20 pounds. A modified workout such as walking on a treadmill is encouraged.

One month after the treatment, you should see a dramatic improvement in your symptoms. Any swelling you may still have should resolve itself within the next 3 to 6 months. After 6 months, most of your symptoms should have resolved itself.
