How Long Does Renuvion® Skin Tightening Last?

Youthful skin looks smooth and resilient because it has ample quantities of collagen and elastin. As these proteins are lost due to aging, or if the skin is stretched beyond its limits, it loses its ability to rebound and starts to sag. In the past, tightening this loose skin meant a surgical procedure, including the scars and recovery time. Renuvion® is a unique, minimally invasive way to address sagging skin, either alone or in combination with other procedures.

What is Renuvion® Skin Tighening?

If stretched or sagging skin is affecting your confidence, Premier Vein & Body by Schwartz offers a long-lasting solution that provides dramatic results. Renuvion® combines helium plasma with radiofrequency energy to tighten your skin from beneath with only a few small incisions. It can be used in areas such as the neck, arms, thighs, and abdomen to restore youthful firmness. While often used in conjunction with liposuction to prevent skin laxity, it can also be used alone almost anywhere you have loose skin.

How Does Renuvion® Work?

Dr. Craig Schwartz performs Renuvion® treatments using local tumescent anesthesia, using a sterile fluid containing a numbing agent that also decreases bleeding. This fluid allows him to insert the handheld device through a small incision. The handpiece delivers cold plasma that is produced by energizing helium with radiofrequency energy, rapidly heating the subcutaneous tissues and deep layers of the skin.

The cold plasma energy causes collagen fibers and other structures in your skin to tighten and contract, resulting in improved lift and firmness. It also triggers cells deep in your skin to increase their collagen production, leading to results that improve steadily over time. Renuvion® allows Dr. Schwartz to customize your treatment to meet your needs, giving you a more sculpted figure or more lifted, defined features.

How Long Does Renuvion® Last?

Renuvion® results are often noticeable within a few days after treatment as collagen fibers and subcutaneous tissues tighten. New collagen is added over the next six months to a year, resulting in continuous improvements. Once established, Renuvion® results are long-lasting, with many people seeing years of improvement with a single treatment.

Many factors affect how long your results last. Each person’s skin loses collagen at a different rate due to factors like genetics, sun exposure, and overall health. You can prolong your results by wearing sunscreen and avoiding excessive exposure, using quality skincare products that promote collagen production, and leading an overall healthy lifestyle.

Significant weight changes can affect how your Renuvion® results look. Losing a large amount of weight will leave more skin laxity while gaining weight can stretch the skin. Maintaining a consistently healthy weight will help your results last for years.

What is Recovery Like After Renuvion®?

Compared to surgical procedures that tighten the skin, Renuvion® recovery is usually quick and uncomplicated. The most common effect is discomfort in the treated area, which can last a few days. We will provide medication as needed to keep you comfortable. People with low-activity jobs may be able to return to work within a day or two, and you can resume your exercise routine after one to two weeks.

Combining Renuvion® with other procedures, such as liposuction, does not typically result in increased downtime. Each person heals differently, and your recovery time may differ depending on the size and location of the treated area.

How is Renuvion® Used With Liposuction?

When Dr. Schwartz uses liposuction to remove excess fat from under the skin, he uses the same tumescent anesthesia he uses with Renuvion®. Removing fat leads to the area having less volume. Skin with good elasticity may tighten without help, but older or stretched skin can benefit from Renuvion® to tighten the area and prevent loose skin from affecting your liposuction results.

Skin elasticity varies by age and many other factors. Dr. Schwartz will assess how much elasticity your skin has in the area and how likely it is to rebound without assistance. Renuvion® combined with liposuction very often provides tighter, more sculpted effects than liposuction alone.

Am I a Good Candidate for Renuvion® Skin Tightening?

Only a consultation can determine whether Renuvion® is a good solution for your loose skin issues. Good candidates should have no major health problems and have reasonable expectations. Candidates may want to tighten skin in almost any area of the body. While people with mild to moderate laxity will see the best results, even very loose skin can look tighter and smoother.

You may not be a good candidate for Renuvion® if you have certain medical conditions. People who have lost a large amount of weight and have a significant amount of sagging and stretching may not achieve the results they are looking for with a non-surgical procedure.
