What are Dermal Fillers?
Several brands of dermal fillers exist, using different materials. All of these are compatible with the body and can stay in place for several months or even longer. Dermal fillers add volume, and some even work for facial contouring and sculpting. Lines and wrinkles lifted and plumped will become less visible and smoother.
How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
The most popular brands of fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a natural molecule produced in our own bodies. This molecule attracts moisture, causing plumping and fullness of the skin. Some other types of dermal filler do not use this moisturize-attracting boost but instead promote the development of collagen to create their plumping effect.
What is Getting Dermal Fillers Like?
Dr. Craig Schwartz, our owner, and medical director, provides all injections himself with his steady surgeon hands and eye for detail. He will inject the dermal filler under the skin in the area to be treated. These injections cause minimal discomfort, and some dermal fillers even contain a numbing agent to make each injection more comfortable than the last.
How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?
Dermal fillers vary in how long they last. Some dermal fillers, especially those used in and around the lips, may last about six months, while other types can last up to a year or even longer. Types of dermal fillers other than hyaluronic acid may last longer but take several weeks to see results. Few of them have the variety and flexibility of hyaluronic acid fillers.
