A traditional blepharoplasty or eyelid lift is an invasive procedure that uses incisions in the eyelids to tighten and lift. A non-surgical blepharoplasty with Tixel® uses no incisions and has minimal recovery time. Tixel® is a non-laser skin rejuvenation treatment that tightens, firms, and smooths the skin. It excels in treating the delicate eye area where most lasers cannot be used. Non-surgical blepharoplasty with Tixel® can treat crepey eyelid skin, wrinkles, puffy undereye bags, and other signs of aging. Unlike a traditional blepharoplasty, it lets you return to most activities with no delay and no opportunity for scarring.
At Premier Vein & Body by Schwartz, we offer Tixel® for non-surgical blepharoplasty. Tixel® works using a small plate with tiny titanium cones that are heated to a precise temperature. These cones then transfer heat to the skin at a targeted depth through a brief contact, creating small areas of controlled thermal damage and stimulating the skin to produce new collagen fibers. Unlike a laser, it uses direct heat instead of light energy, meaning that it can be safely used around the eyes and even on the eyelids right up to the lash line since protective eyewear is not necessary.
Non-surgical blepharoplasty with Tixel® triggers your skin’s natural healing responses. Skin cells in the dermis increase collagen production, tightening and firming the skin. The eyelids look lifted and smoother, lines and wrinkles disappear, and the undereye area looks tight and youthful.
Your non-surgical Tixel® blepharoplasty will often begin with applying a numbing cream to keep you comfortable during treatment. Dr. Craig Schwartz will customize the intensity of your Tixel® treatment to meet your needs. Your treatment will usually take between 15 and 30 minutes.
Most patients require a series of three Tixel treatments to achieve results similar to those of a non-surgical blepharoplasty. Each additional treatment provides more new collagen and more skin-tightening benefits.
Almost anyone can be a good candidate for non-surgical blepharoplasty. Unlike most lasers, Tixel® is safe for all skin tones. Tixel® is ideal for those who want to see tightening and firming in the eye area that lasers cannot treat. You may be a good candidate for non-surgical blepharoplasty if you want to rejuvenate your eye area without the recovery time from a surgical procedure. Tixel® is not recommended if you are pregnant or have certain skin conditions.
Tixel® requires minimal downtime after treatment. You may experience mild swelling for a day or two when treating the eye area. You may also notice some redness. You can start wearing makeup the day after your procedure, making it easy to hide residual redness and return to your usual routine. Avoid sun exposure and wear sun protection to shield your new collagen from UV damage.
The results of your non-surgical blepharoplasty develop gradually as your skin adds new collagen. Full results typically appear within four to six weeks. You will need occasional touch-up treatments to maintain your lifted, bright-eyed look. Many people have maintenance treatments about once a year, but your needs may differ.
Your eye area will look more youthful and alert as your upper and lower eyelids tighten and lift. Crepey eyelid skin becomes smooth and firm, and puffy undereye bags disappear. Since the treatment stimulated the production of your own collagen, the results always look natural.
