VASER Liposelection™ combines patented technology with advanced surgical techniques to break-up and reduce fat while leaving surrounding tissue relatively intact.
Patients who struggle with unwanted fat that won’t go away despite a healthy diet and exercise routine may be candidates for VASERlipo®.
Tumescent liquid (a saline solution mixed with anesthetics) is injected into the body area being treated. Instead of using a suction cannula and manual movement to break down the fat tissue, or the thermal energy of a laser, VASER uses ultrasound high-frequency energy to break apart fat cells. The ultrasound waves gently disengage, loosen, and emulsify the fat cells into the tumescent fluid that has been infused into the body area. A small cannula is then used to excavate the liquid and fat cells. Some of the local anesthetics remains in the tissue, thus helping reduce post-procedural discomfort.*
VASER Liposelection™ provides the ability to slim and shape your body but, generally, does not provide for bulk fat reduction. Although there may be post-procedure swelling, most patients see the majority of their ultimate liposuction results within one to three months after surgery. Once the fat is excavated in the treated area it should not return or migrate to other parts of the body, provided the patient maintains a healthy diet and lifestyle. If you experience weight gain or loss, it should be evenly distributed over your entire body, but fat accumulation in a previously treated area is typically less proportionate than in untreated areas. This precise process allows Dr. Schwartz to shape delicate areas, such as the inner thighs, arms, chin and neck.
Most patients can return to work and their normal activities within several days to perhaps about a week after their VASERlipo® procedure. Compared to the two weeks or more most patients need to recover from traditional liposuction surgery, this is a notably shorter recovery period.
