Surgical Precision Lipo™
Minimally-Invasive, Ultra-Precise Lipo Using Only Local Anesthetic
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, in 2014 liposuction replaced breast augmentation as America’s most popular cosmetic procedure.
What is Precision Lipo™?
Several years after the invention of the original form of hospital-based liposuction, which required the use of general anesthesia, overnight hospital stays, surgical blood loss, weeks of downtime and intense pain, and the rippling of skin in the area treated during surgery, Dr. Jeffrey A. Klein invented the tumescent technique for liposuction, revolutionizing the procedure.
Unlike “traditional lipo”, tumescent lipo is performed using only local anesthesia, right in our beautiful Leawood office. Tumescent liquid (a saline solution mixed with anesthetics) is injected into the body area being treated. Instead of using a violent, manual movement to break down the fat tissue, as in earlier liposuction procedures, Dr. Schwartz chooses a specific “energy” to use in his Precision Lipo to break apart the fat cells, which could be one of or a combination of the following:
The different energy sources gently disengage, loosen and emulsify the fat cells into the tumescent or numbing fluid that has been infused into the body area. A small cannula is then used to withdraw the liquid and fat cells. Some of the local anesthetic remains in the tissue, assisting with recovery.
Precision Lipo™ can be performed as a stand-alone procedure, but it is also commonly done in combination with other aesthetic procedures to obtain the best possible results. We often perform lipo in conjunction with Venus Freeze™ , which facilitates firming and tightening of the skin after fat reduction and is a wonderful combination therapy for patients who wish to both reduce fat and treat loose, lax skin.*
What Are the Best Body Areas for Precision Lipo?
While this does depend largely on the skill of the physician, there are certain areas that respond best in men and women:
- Flanks or Love Handles
- Outer Thighs
Since 2003, Dr. Craig Schwartz has concentrated his expertise on the non-invasive treatment of vein disease, as well as the ever-expanding area of aesthetic medicine – specifically fat reduction, body contouring and cellulite reduction.
Always committed to providing the best possible minimally invasive fat reduction and body contouring treatments for his patients, Dr. Schwartz originally trained under Dr. Jeffrey Klein, the inventor of Tumescent Liposuction Totally by Local Anesthesia. He has also attended multiple courses and preceptorships around the country with some of the premier instructors in laser and ultrasound-assisted liposuction, including such internationally known cosmetic physicians as Dr. Robert Weiss, Dr. Roger Hogue and Dr. David Broadway. As owner and medical director of Premier Vein & Body, Dr. Schwartz performs all of the lipo procedures himself.
Dr. Schwartz takes the mystery out of fat reduction and liposuction options and presents you with a plan that best fits your body type and goals, using the best possible lipo technology, or, possibly, a combination of complimentary procedures. Many doctors sell you whatever type of lipo they happen to offer. Dr. Schwartz provides his patients with a full range of options, as no two bodies are the same, and you can trust that all have proven to be effective with high patient satisfaction.
Who Are the Best Candidates for Precision Lipo™?
Some of the energy types used in our Precision Lipo™ allow patients who are not within thirty pounds of their ideal body weight (historically, those who would not have been good lipo candidates) to have larger volumes of fat reduced. The technology is also perfect for patients looking for precise body sculpting of delicate areas, such as the inner thighs, knees, arms, chin, neck and cheeks or jowls. But, just like any lipo procedure, Precision Lipo™ does not provide a total weight loss solution, but it will help you look and feel better. Assuming you maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, the weight should not return or migrate to other parts of your body. Should you experience weight gain or loss, it will be evenly distributed over your entire body.*
Having good skin tone (tight, thick skin with good elasticity, no visible stretch marks, and minimal exposure to the sun) is also one of the keys to achieving optimal results with Precision Lipo™. The better the skin tone, the more easily it will contract to fit the newly contoured area after surgery.*
